Filer Bug

On my Iyonix, running RISC OS 5.16 (18 Jan 2010) [and LanManFS 2.34 (1 Aug 2009) if that is relevant] I can make a file disappear from the filer window by renaming another file. If I rename ‘aGWDiagrams/pdf’ to remove the leading ‘a’ (and then refresh – well rename the parent directory from ‘html’ to ‘html’ which has the same effect) then the file ‘GWDiagramsTest/htm’ disappears. Puzzled. The file is still there (Windows can see it). |

I get this error as well, it seems to effect files & directories. The problem is either the Omniclient or Lan Manager module, my guess/deduction is that its the Lan Manger module. I’m puzzled as well, and I am trying to see if I can replicate the problem to give a bug hunter a chance to track it down. |

I get this error too. I noticed that by new VDSL box allowed to connect an USB drive and share it, so I gave it a try and downloaded the nightly build of HardDisc4 to try to use a recent version of OmniClient & LanManFS on my old RISC OS 6 RiscPC. It seems to work fine except that one directory is supposed to contain 68 BUCK-TICK albums and singles in the form of sub-directories but only 50 are listed. And just as Jeff mentions using the filer’s “Find” allows to find and open the missing directories. |

If I’ve understood correctly, all of you are seeing this on LanManFS shares. If you copy the files to a local folder, do you see the same effect? It may be specific to LanManFS in some way. |

You are correct, problem only appears on LanManFS, and if you copy the files to a local folder then the missing files appear (if my memory is correct!). I got LanMan98 for the Pi and the problem is no more. |

Well, I have the same folder on my local hard disk where all the sub-folders are visible, I was just looking for a FLAC file to see if DigitalCD could play it without problem over the network when I first noticed that the last albums where not present before noticing other missing albums in the list. So indeed it seems specific to LanManFS. If I copy from my laptop one of the invisible folder to another folder on the share, I have no problem seeing it, so its not the filename which is a problem. It also is not a question of filename similarities like in Chris’ case, thought I must say that due to the formatting “[YYYY-MM-DD] |

More curious, if I add a file to the problematic folder, some but not all of the missing folders become visible. If I remove the file, they are hidden again. |

Bump! This bug is still not fixed in LanManFS 2.53 17-Mar-2016. This makes LanManFS unusable for me – a shame since it can now access NAS that it couldn’t before. |

Chris, try the update that Colin posted on the other thread about this. So far with me I can find no problems |

By curiousity I donloaded the latest LanManFS version (2.54 03-Apr-2016) and used it on my RISC PC (OS 6). Does this version fix it? LanmanTest.zip |
André Timmermans (100) 655 posts |
The version in LanmanTest.zip fails to connect to the share, this is why I tested the official 2.54 version which is supposed to contain the fix. |
Colin (478) 2433 posts |
Hmmm… 2.54 doesn’t contain the fix for missing files. |
Colin (478) 2433 posts |
I’ve added the fix to last nights LanManFS – I can’t see that it would make a difference and my change wouldn’t affect logging on. Lanmantest.zip |
André Timmermans (100) 655 posts |
That version is a little bit better. I can logging and the filer display is correct but a *cat on the same folder gives me an “Unable to perform operation” error and trying load a few files quickly gives me aborts and other problems, so I think maybe your build is not compiled with RISC PC compatible options. |
Colin (478) 2433 posts |
Ok try it again. I’ve recompiled it with a ‘discs’ environment. The original was compiled with an ‘TungstenDev’ environment. |
André Timmermans (100) 655 posts |
The ‘disc’ compiled version is working correctly. |
