11/10/22 Pi ROM won't mount desktop

I now always try a soft load version on my Titanium. If it fails then a reset will bring back the installed ROM. As for the Raspberry Pi I too use a directory named ‘Old’. If a new build fails then I can pop the Micro SD into a Linux machine and delete the broken ROM, replacing it with a copy of the one in the ‘Old’ directory. If I may also point out that the ROOL team may be busy earning a living and preparing the 5.30 stable ROM, so errors can be made. Regards Ron. |

My RPi 2 Model B gets to the Desktop, but has reverted the desktop font to System with the error from Organizer: Undefined font handle (58092). Lots of other stuff is similarly unuseable, declining to display text. |

FWIW an RPi2B boots to a fully functioning Desktop with fonts present and correct. I don’t have Organizer. HTH. |

I presume you are currently diffing in the config for the set desktop font. What happens if you select one of the bog basic outline fonts for the desktop – like Homerton ?? |

@John: I do have Organizer (!) What version do you have? |

I only have a quite old version, but I have no doubt you are right. I only mentioned it in case anyone else had a similar problem, in which case it might have been due to the changes. If I am unable to sort it out in a reasonable time I shall ask for help! |

Not sure this discussion should be here, given that you were complaining about the “noise” just a few days ago… …but I’d try a |

Ask someone to try a bog basic, always there font, just in case they have a problem with 3rd party font manager or fonts, or a problem with ROM fonts. No feedback so far to continue the diagnostics. |

Since most people don’t have the problem, could it be that you use a font manager application like FontDirPro and that it is failing to start during boot time with the new ROM? |

You will see from my subsequent posting clarifying the reason for my posting, that I had no wish to burden this topic with the matter if my problem was not experienced by anyone else and therefore unconnected with the particular corrected ROM image, and was quite happy to try to sort it out myself at this stage. I’m afraid this “noise” is due to the unbridled enthusiasm of other subscribers to the forum, and is in no way down to me! Oh, I see that the post I am referring to is directly preceding your post that I am replying to! |
