Thanks. I’ve checked that as you suggested. Seems to be okay – i.e. it’s showing UK (default)

Problem solved. I know how, but don’t know why. In case anyone else comes up with a similar problem, I simply changed the keyboard to another USB socket and everything now works, including with the latest ROM 2013-04-04.
