Minor message file error in 5.14

I’m unsure how to submit changes to the source tree, so I’m posting this here. If somone can point me towards some instructions, I’ll submit a fix for this problem myself. The problem is that the file RiscOS.Sources.Apps.Help2.Resources.UK.Messages has had some trailing spaces removed from various lines, that shouldn’t have been. Right below the comment saying “note trailing spaces” in fact :) This causes !Help to display things like “Click SELECT toedit this object” etc. |

On http://www.riscosopen.org/wiki/documentation/pages/The+19th+May+Release see the section headed “How do I submit back to ROOL?”
I think it’s caused by some versions of Zap (which chop off trailing spaces in Messages mode) I’ve seen the same problem in a couple of other places in the source tree: Alarm (which I fixed) and Filer (where IIRC if you run the desktop in the old system font, a space is missing in the full info display) |

True. Someone else reported this by email a few weeks ago – seems the relevant file in the CVS repository got a bit mangled during the process of being cleaned up for release. Ironically, the last commit to that file was also fixing the stripping of trailing spaces in the previous revision. I’ve gone in “behind the scenes” and restored the repository file to the way it should always have been though there’s no visible sign of me having done so. The tarballs haven’t been updated since, so beware. |
