RISC OS 5 on Risc PC

I receive my (new) Risc PC, and made a rapid test of RISC OS 5.

Two bugs:

System resources: Distribution of !System for use with pre-RISC OS 5 machines. RISC OS 5 users should download HardDisc4 instead since it contains the complete boot sequence.

In fact, that’s not true. System resources must be merged with the content of HardDisc4.
Nota, the self extracting version of HardDisc4 does not work under RISC OS 4.

Second bug, more annoying. Choices.Boot is not compatible between systems. If I let RISC OS 4 create it, it will only works under RISC OS 4. The same with RISC OS 5. The best should be to switch the content of Choices.Boot when Prompt is launched, no?

Which version of RISC OS 4? Some of them (don’t know which versions) supported a multiuser behaviour, so it may be that ROLtd messed with the boot stuff.

I don’t have any version of RISC OS 4/Select/whatever, so I’ll leave it to somebody else to look to the exact differences and why this is happening (or, rather, what can be done about it).

Note – incidentally – that it could be more problematic than simply switching some files around. Modules in !System, executables in !Internet, etc etc. Isn’t RISC OS 4 still a 26 bit world?

For these parts, the 32 bit versions seem to works well.
