Is it possible that ROOL have released a OMAP rom with Align exceptions on? I was able to create and use a ram disc. And now Netsurf seems so corrupted that even a new install won’t work. any ideas ? |

Alignment exceptions on by default: yes. I created three BASIC programmes that live in the root directory of my HardDisc0: one to enable alignment exceptions, one to disable them, and the third to report the current setting. You may find it useful to do the same. I don’t have any trouble installing each new version of NetSurf, though. I normally run with alignment exceptions on, only turning them off when I need to do enable a RAM disc or to run a few items that don’t work otherwise. Installation of a new version of NetSurf doesn’t require them to be disabled – but you must be running the current version of SparkFS if that’s what you use to decompress NetSurf’s archive. |

Why is the 2010-04-13 version still the latest one? Didn’t I read of changes that had been made, e.g. to make HardDisc0 auto-boot to the desktop? Does everybody have to build the changes themselves? |

Either ROOL aren’t aware of the changes, or (more likely) they haven’t had enough spare time to run the (not entirely automatic) autobuilder. I suppose we should really fix that RAM disc/filecore bug at some point. |

doh, I meant alignement exceptions off of course. It is really strange my whole USB stick seems corrupted, all the programs start to fail (netsurf, infozip, stronged… )(I can’t get firefox to launch but this I never could). I’ll guess I’ll wait for a newer rom with exceptions turned on again. |

But alignment exceptions are turned on by default in that ROM. |

I don’t suppose there’s the slightest chance that DDT runs on the BB? I read and re-read the explanation of what is known so far about the bug. The worry is that there is something else going wrong that no-one can see or understand. |

Autobuilder: Ideally, one day we’ll run RISC OS in an emulator on the same server as hosts our web site and then that system can run the autobuild process on its own each day. This would save me from having to manually switch an IYONIX on and do the builds, then upload the results. In the even more distant future, we’ll have cross-compilation working so that the builds can be performed natively on the host server, without requiring an emulator. I expect this will be a much quicker process to complete than building under RISC OS under emulation… |
