Bug in C Library

It is impossible to run the StrongARM version of the reader for The Way Things Work CD with any of the newer versions of CLib. It will work with the version built into the RISC OS 4.39 ROMs, which is 4.98, and I’ve also got a CLib 5.17, which it will work with, but it bricks the machine if I use any later version (except the RISC OS 6 version, which won’t work outside the whole RISC OS 6 “environment” !!!!) With the latest Castle version I have, (version 5.53, 14 March 2005), when I try loading the reader, I get the error - Internal error, no stack or trap handler, abort on data transfer at &00000000, PC=FFFFFFF8, registers at 0002B1B4 and the machine locks up with the hard drive light on. It won’t respond to Ctrl-shift-F12 or Alt-break, and forces you to turn the power switch off. Although it’s quite an old title, TWTW is very useful as an educational reference title, and it’s worth finding out why it works with the older versions of C Lib and not the newer ones. PLUS it works with RISC OS 6, but not any of the later Castle C Libs !!!! I can send a copy of the reader to anybody who is working on maintaining the C library.
