Problems with Latest C/C++ Tools CD

Installation appeared to go OK, but then from the Tools folder, double click on any tool and it loads & works fine. However, double click on a second tool to load it and an error box comes up with “Task not known” and it won’t load. Clicking on the first tool’s icon on the iconbar causes it then to crash, and the icon disappears from the iconbar. Attempting to reload it causes an “Application already loaded” message. |

Looks like something to do with the FrontEnd module. Version 1.31 triggers the problem as described above, 1.28 does not. |

You might find v. 1.28 in the System download (going by this post). |

I’ve just tracked down and fixed the bug in FrontEnd – actually a build system bug. You can use an earlier version as a stop-gap, but you’ll find in particular that the new !ObjAsm application won’t work with anything earlier than FrontEnd 1.31. All the sources for FrontEnd are published, so you can build your own (you need to ensure you grab the latest castle/RiscOS/BuildSys as well) but I’ll try to get a pre-built binary uploaded for everyone’s convenience too. |

I’ve added a hand-rolled binary to the downloadable modules page (direct link) |
