alt click

Yesterday I got a problem which I’ve seen occasionally in the recent past. This is when trying to use alt-select to change the name of a file.

I could alt-select and get the box to type in changes. I could type in the changes. But then when I finished the file name remained as it had been and the changes ignored.

Using the menu option worked OK.

This was a set of files with names like

Scan0123/jpg

which I wanted to change to have names like

Scan0123_1933_10_06/jpg

I tried a number of files and retried some with no success using alt-click.

At other times with other files it works fine.

This is on an ARMX6 running the RComp RO 5.23

You are press return after making the changes?
Clicking elsewhere in the Window doesn’t action the change.

Yeah, I’ve had this happen a few times on my Iyonix running the stable release, so it’s nothing recent.

Yes. I press return. At that point the writable box vanishes and the original filename reappears.

When typing in the new name I see the changes and the caret/cursor. But then that all goes leaving the unchanged name.

Usually it works fine. Sometimes it doesn’t. As yet I’ve not seen any pattern.

Clutching at straws. Does the directory contain a lot files or is very deep?

No. And today alt click works on files where it didn’t work previously.
