PackMan

Is there a problem with Packman? I have PackMan 0.8.3 beta (as provided in RC14) on my Raspberry Pi model 2 B and it fails to update the package list(s). It starts with a little bit of green bar but then fails. Is this a known problem? !Store works fine (it does report a fatal error during the update process but then works OK if you restart it). |

;-) The problem is here The package lists are updated from riscos.info and the site is down. |

At least on my machine (PackMan 0.9.1) this causes the entire machine to freeze to the point where even Ctrl-Break won’t reboot it. An offline server shouldn’t do that! |

As noted in the other thread, the server is back online. But… … I tried to install PackIt earlier, and it failed due to the server. However, I’ve just tried to install it again and PackIt is no longer listed as an available package! Presumably it’s become marked as “damaged” somewhere – does anyone know how to reverse this so that I can retry the install? I’ve tried Update Lists but it didn’t help. |

This link to !PackIt may help? I guess once the maintainer notices it’s missing it’ll be back. There’s a later version of !PackMan than the one on RC14. The version supplied with the release candidate image didn’t automatically update itself for me, but has worked fine since updating it. |

!PackIt still seems to be missing – I think this is because it comes from the RISC OS Packaging Project website and that appears to be down. I’ve emailed the site maintainer and if it doesn’t re-appear in the next day or two I’ll upload a copy to riscos.info. |

Ah, so it’s actually missing! I assumed that my copy of PackMan had become confused due to a failed install, but it seems that this isn’t actually the case. |

I’ve recompiled PackIt and put the new version in to the GCCSDK Autobuilder and uploaded it to the riscos.info site so it should now appear in the packaging lists once again. As it’s been recompiled, it should run on the Raspberry Pi 3 without problems. |
