Open Parent not behaving right?

Hi everyone,

While reviewing the User Guide I noticed an oddity. The chapter on using the Filer states that you can close a directory and open its parent in two ways:

1. Click Adjust on close (this works)
2. Click Menu, then click Adjust on Open Parent (this doesn’t).

The latter option opens the parent but doesn’t close the current directory. I’ve also tested this on 3.1 and it doesn’t work there either (I don’t have 3.7 handy). [Edit: The manual for 3.1 only lists the first method, so perhaps this feature was first added in 3.5 or later]

Does anyone know whether this is supposed to work? I’m not sure whether this is a bug in the Filer or a bug in the documentation :)

I’d say it was “a bug in the documentation”.

Adjust on close icon is closing the one directory view as expected and adding the “open parent” element.
The Menu option is “Open parent” and makes no mention of closing anything and therefore should not close anything – and it doesn’t.
Basically both methods do what they should (i.e.different things) and the User Guide is wrong. Mind you it’s easy enough to alter the UG.

Thanks. It looks like you’re right – curiosity got the better of me so I dug out 3.7 and it doesn’t work there either. I’ll update the docs accordingly.
