RISC OS Awards 2017 - discussion before finalising poll

John: PHP for that was overkill. It now doesn’t mention dates at all, so now it is right forever.

It is amusing that you mention age groups: I use PHP on my “author” page to auto-enter my age – it’s incredibly easy to do (other scripting languages are available)!

Steve – this overkill business – it’s not as if simple PHP is difficult!

And it’s me saying this, not some geek! I’m just very ordinary, perhaps too unexceptional!

In case you don’t realise, John, the poll does use PHP behind the scenes.

Vince, I am amused by the rather coy option in the survey: “I would rather not say”. Are some RISC OS folk a little ashamed of what they get up to? Like using Mickey$oft? Anyway, I ‘came out’ and admitted that I regularly practice RISC OS with ARM as well.

There are some questions where people might genuinely not want to answer – but by including it on all questions and making it the default, even those that would seem much less personal, it creates a quick and easy way to allow people to avoid the survey altogether if they choose. (Some do).
