Help! Where's DebugTools?

I need to use the *Where command. Much to my surprise, it seems to be nonfunctional on both the Iyonix and ARMini. A bit of digging, and it seems this command is provided by the DebugTools module. There’s precisely one link on the Internet to said module, which is to ROOL’s now-deleted individual component pages. So I’ve tried downloading PlingSystem and HardDisc4, and it isn’t in either of those. Has it dropped off the web? |

IIRC *Where was by Justin Fletcher and incorporated into select. I think there is a version for download maybe by druck? |

Thanks to Colin Ferris, I now have a copy of this elusive module. Seriously, weren’t the individual component downloads removed partly because they were wholly duplicated by the HardDisc4 archive? Somebody needs to fix that. In the meantime I’ve solved my very urgent crash problem by finally thinking to look in DigitalCD’s Setup file and discovering that for reasons unknown the Iyonix was configured to use DiskSample for MP3s but the ARMini had somehow got itself stuck on AMPlayer. Ho hum. |

Hmm, my copy of “*where” is a utility not a module. |

The DebugTools module also contained an implementation of *Where. On a not-unrelated note, I found today that the HardDisc4 archive is also missing modules like FrontEnd which SDCreate requires. Fortunately, the SDCreate Wiki page took me to the deleted download page for the individual components, otherwise I’d have come to a dead-end at that point. Either SDCreate’s documentation is out of date, or there’s something awry with the downloads. |

The FrontEnd module is here , the downloads are not currently linked due to webmaster spare time starvation (the other modules there were all hand built and uploaded which rapidly got out of date, proving more confusing to users than useful). |

In addition to Sprow’s comments, the other problem with the module downloads was that all but the most proficient users just found them confusing and sometimes ended up in a mess having incorrectly installed a module or installed the wrong version, etc. I think the main (and very valid) point to take away from this Martin and Steve comments is that we really should put a load more of the softloadable modules (e.g. DebugTools) into the HardDisc4 build. I’ll leave that challenge for someone with a bit more spare time – someone who’s spending less time changing nappies than I. |
