Hey, ROOL, don’t suppose you do RISC OS Open sweatshirts, T-shirts, etc? |

They certainly did T-shirts at one of the London shows I attended. I know, because I’ve still got mine! I wore it a couple of days ago to a practical exam (which was being filmed, incidentally) at UCL, where at least one person admired it… |

We sold out of the t-shirts a couple of years ago and haven’t done any further runs. To be honest, it was difficult to sell the last few (as with most crazy merchandising ideas we have) because our market – primarily people attending the RISC OS shows – is small and easily saturated. Usually, you have to order a lot of something to bring it down to an affordable price per unit – this also makes merchandise a risky and potentially expensive proposition for a company like ROOL (supported entirely by donations and sales from the aforementioned crazy merchandising schemes). Maybe we should consider a ROOL/RPi t-shirt once the release is more stable and ready for broad release? I’d have to see what the RPi Foundation think of that idea… Also, we do occasionally consider on-line sales for more things but it does tend to end up being quite a burden dealing with random dribbles of n orders per week. Pre-packaged stuff like t-shirts might not be too bad. |

A bounty for merchandise? :-) |

He, he, he. :) To be honest, that’s what the “RISC OS Open administration” bounty is – it’s our general pot of cash that we splosh in whichever direction it’s needed. Our merchandising schemes usually start when we notice the bank account has a bit of a surplus (which is ironic because the aim is to make money, but it inevitably costs £500 or so to do something and we usually don’t make very much above covering the costs). |

Up on this subject. |

For a recent show in Germany (CC2016), I bought mousepads, t-shirts and a mug with custom printing. One of each. And really cheap. E.g. the mousepads were less than 6€ each. OK, it gets down to 3,60€ each if you order 100 of them, but I think very small runs are nowadays possible and worthwhile, and having more things to order would motivate people to buy more stuff. I know that many people are not into that donation thing, so just give them enough stuff to buy to get their donation :-) |

What’s the problem? I go to advertising firm in our village, give my pictures and get 1 T-shirt (15 €), coffee mugs, pillows, mouse pad … If I take more, the piece will be cheaper … |
