MuPDF

I’ve got a fairly basic port of MuPDF up and running.
It supports a number of different file formats. It loads PDF, XPS, OpenXPS, CBZ, ePub, and FictionBook 2 documents.

At the moment the front end is very basic. Just Page Up/Down to navigate.
If anyone is interested in testing it I can make a test version available for download.
It needs a RISC OS rom from 18th Feb onwards otherwise it crashes on launching.

I’d be interested in testing, MuPDF was always on my list of things to try to port, because it does such a good job on Windows showing PDFs. Its toolbox/CLI also shows a lot of potential for converting and manipulating PDFs.

A test version is available here.
First merge the supplied !Boot folder. See the !Help file.

The following file types don’t seem to currently exist on RISC OS so the file type will need to be set as below otherwise they won’t be recognised.
CBZ – AB1
EPUB – AAE
FB2 – AAF
XPS – AB2

There’s an updated version of MuView (v0.02 alpha) available here. Now with zoom and rotation and also uses the official EPUB file type. It’s built with v1.16.1 of the MuPDF library.

Thanks for your continuing work on MuView, zoom is a very welcome addition and hopefully the ability to go straight to a page will come soon?

Is working very well without the problems I have wit !Pdf and any “newer” files.

How does the zoom facility work? What keys does it use?

Haven’t tried the latest version yet, but the previous one works well on a Pi 3B+.

To navigate a document press Page Up/Page Down.
To zoom in/out press the Up/Down cursor keys.
To roate clockwise/anti clockwise press the Right/Left cursor keys.
To go to a specific page click menu. Navigate to the ‘Goto Page’ dialogue. Enter the page
number and press return or click Goto.

Now with ‘Goto Page’

I recently tried and failed to open an epub (&AAE) file with the 0.03 alpha.

Also I wondered if F5 was the target keyboard shortcut for the new Goto Page feature.

Another very useful port! And another thing (reorganise my PDF) that I can now do under RISC OS.

I did a quick port of pdfgrep to RISC OS. It can be used as a stop gap until search is added to MuView.
It’s available here. It will search a folder of PDF files recursively or a single file.

Any chance of adding sound output?

Hi, any chance to get a version that does not need VFP (ok, might be slower but what the heck).
Reason to ask is that the other PDF display tools fail with the current protetcion features like “prohibit print” and you do get some such PDFs every once in a while.
