Any talented graphic artists out there?

Are there any good graphic artists (not people who can “draw a bit” like me) out there who would be interested in doing some bits for the RISC OS RPi distro? If so, get in touch with us at info@riscosopen.org so we can chat about it.

Whilst I’m not exactly volunteering icon design (I lack graphic skills, but can fiddle around in !Paint and !ChangeFSI), a look at the SDFS screenshot suggests you might benefit from the device icons we use on ARMini/Panda!

Do we construe this as permission for ROOL and the general RISC OS community to use your icons?

It’s more of a comment to Steve since I haven’t given it enough thought yet ;)
I suspect a minor modification to my icon would be best, as at the moment it is used to
represent the SD card reader built into the ARMini and PandaLand case. For SDFS, which
is subtly different, I think perhaps minor tweakage might be justified.

I’m using a modified set on my Raspberry Pi! With a nice raspberry switcher icon.

All nicely embedded in it’s Raspberry MacPi case!

Do i remember someone working on a way to render the desktop using draw? simon? or is this a dream??
would it be faster or slower to render this way?? It would be great if you could use the artworks render module.

I had this idea many years ago as it does make a lot of sense – particularily for lo res displays.

So I asked Martin Wuerthner about it after Wakefield in 2008 I think.

Obviously it is possible but a HUGE amount of work to do and, interestingly, wouldn’t lead to much of a performance increase (which is what I thought it might).

So Sprites’R’Us it is then :-)

Or IyonixMesa.

These suggestions of using ArtWorks or Mesa to render the desktop sound like exactly the reasons Linux is laggy and sucky on the Raspberry Pi and RISC OS isn’t.

And we’re drifting a bit off topic, too.
