We’re all good at whinging when stuff doesn’t work right (it’s ‘cos we’re (mostly) British, moaning is a national passtime). Good work everybody involved! (but really, using a rack as a footrest?) |

Quite likely.1 Without the article how long would it have been? If they were doing it for the qudos they’d be unusual. Because it needs to be done tends to be the tchie way.
+1 1 It’s a well established fact that the behind the scenes working guys don’t actually get noticed much if at all. At work there wa much praise last year for the transfer of a set of file shares with barely a user glitch2 and the total replacement of the network rated nothing outside a small set of people despite most, if not all, users being aware that it had occurred. Being awake for 30 hours and making changes in a fashion that meant dropping one ping was the worst that happened clearly isn’t noteworthy. 2 I’m pretty sure most users could do that. |

It’s because it’s “boring”. Think about it – if you’re hacking an online computer, your prompt is probably going to look like ‘$’. Then you’ll be typing some commands, maybe running some prewritten files to “do stuff”. After a bunch of typing, the ‘$’ will become a ‘#’ and the machine is pwned. Now tell me one movie in the entire history of Hollywood (and any other country) that plays such a thing even remotely straight. It’s visualisations of fancy 3D labyrinths and things way more interesting to look at than… text. Maybe next time you should set up an old to-be-retired computer with some sparklers inside, then the lot of you can run into the room with the crash cart and hit it with a defibrillator, while yelling loudly that it this machine goes down, everything is lost ! On second thoughts, they’d probably just wonder when Charlie Fairhead is going to turn up… |

What’s that F doing on the beginning of the surname? |
|
I wonder how his stories will play out in this post #metoo world. After all, hasn’t his character dated practically every female in Holby hospital?!? |
|
No idea. Who is he? What’s this “Holby hospital?” Is it somewhere in Aldershot? |

I don’t think I want to know… 8~) …or, to be more strictly accurate, the URL tells me enough on its own with my needing to follow it… Since this fellow is (presumably) fictional, I guess the name was deliberately chosen to encourage folks to remove the F? |

When this thread was started, forum access was indeed much better. But something has happened these last couple of days or so, and it’s the worst it’s ever been, in my estimation. What’s gone wrong? |
|
I interpreted the “taming the beast” comment as meaning “at some point in the past issues with beast have been fixed”, not “all the issues have been fixed”. So I was a bit surprised when people drew the conclusion that the forums had been fixed. |
|
Forum access appeared to be free of delays from about that point in time. Maybe it was just a remarkable coincidence. |
