Connecting a parallel printer via USB

In theory, a USB to parallel adapter should work. I believe some models of the Iyonix came with an adapter, and CJE have a few adapters for sale on their site. To get it to work, it looks like it’s just a case of adding the printer to !Printers as normal, then going to the connection settings window and specifying the vendor & product IDs of the adapter. However I don’t have an adapter or a printer to test it with. |

Hi Jerome. Most but not all USB to Parallel adaptors work on Iyonix, I suspect the same will be true of BB xM, we can supply one that we guarantee works! [snip: should have had brain in gear!] |

Thanks for the help. After looking for alternative solutions, I also thought about network printing too rather than parallel (RemotePrinterFS seems to work on xM). Cheaper for me since I can source the print server locally and is a more flexible solution (no need to get the xM running to print from another computer). |
