Screen settings

I’ve not been using RISC OS for a while so things are a bit hazy right now. I’m using the 1.9 rom on a BB-xM, would some kind soul remind me how I make my screen settings survive a reboot? I do have a CMOS widget fitted if that helps. Cheers, |

Edit: As soon as I post, the xM now seems to be saving state, I assume to the wigdet! Very odd, as I’ve been struggling with this for two days. |

Success? If not… Switcher icon – menu – Configure – Screen. Choose your settings & ‘Set’. |

When you say you are using the 1.9 ROM I presume you mean the 5.19 ROM – but that version has numerous sub-versions which are best referred to by the date stamp. |

Not sure how to ‘quote’ here but Frederick, success yes, but “Switcher icon – menu – Configure – Screen. Choose your settings & ‘Set’” was exactly what I was doing but it always reverted after a power cycle, until now. Steve, yes, my bad, 5.19 ROM as of yesterday. Thanks. |

Not sure how to ‘quote’ blockquote in < > before the quoted text and /blockquote after the text. The style marking is “Textile” and round here rather than swear by it, people swear at it. success yes, but “Switcher icon – menu – Configure – Screen. Choose your settings & ‘Set’” was exactly what I was doing but it always reverted after a power cycle, until now. If you did a recent update of the ROM image and the HardDisc4.util you may have fed in a fix there. |

Alternatively, just begin a new line with "bq. " (b, q, dot, space). Follow on with the quote, it’ll continue to the next blank line. If quoting in a reply, leave a blank line before the "bq. " part.
Openly, and without shame. My advice – remember |

Ah, thought I was probably sucking eggs but you never know. |

I have been continuing to play with the display, in an attempt to get 1680×1050 (which I cannot achieve – the best I can get is 1280×1020@57Hz) and it seems it wasn’t the way I was doing things but the actual MDF that I was choosing. If I use a mode from ‘Generic’ and it’s acceptable, it sticks. If I choose a mode from a different group, it doesn’t stick. Very starnge! I had thought I’d be able to use the same MDF as I use on the Iyonix (with the same monitor) to achieve my aim of 1680×1050 but no joy. Thank you for the quoting tips by the way. |
