Cannot pay for a CMOS widget without setting up a PayPal account

I have encountered an annoyance with PayPal when trying to buy a CMOS widget. As soon as I select one the two countries for which I have creditcards, the option to “Pay as a guest” (which is available to people in the UK) disappears. I am required to set up a PayPal account before I can make the payment. I presume there must be something different in the laws governing financial transactions in those two countries which precludes paying without first setting up a PayPal account. I really do not want a PayPal account, so is there another way to pay for a CMOS widget? Thanks in advance. |

You could of course buy one from R-Comp if that helps |

I’m not clear from your posting whether you’re in the UK or not. If you’re in the UK, you can pay ROOL by BACS by asking for an invoice. I believe they still accept cheques and postal orders, but I’d expect there’s a handling fee because banks charge to clear such things for business accounts. If you’re abroad you could do an international bank transfer, but (for my bank at least) the wire fee is about £12. While Paypal may be objectionable to some, remember that ROOL have to keep costs as low as possible and have no card clearing facilities or fulltime sales staff! |

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. I’m based in Norway and closed my UK current account a couple of years ago. I no longer have a UK credit card either. I’ll either order from RComp or try and find a UK based who is prepared to order the widget for me. I appreciate that his is the best way for ROOL to offer such products. However, PayPal have annoyed me on several occasions. I don’t like dealing with companies that make you jump through hoops just to get an answer to a question. |
