Stuff in the compatibility list which shouldn't be

GRAAARGH!! Stupid forum chucked my entire post in the bin when I tried to post it and then requested I log in again for absolutely no reason! The sooner this pile of second-rate abandonware trash meets its long-overdue appointment with the virtual void the better. And I don’t just mean this bloody stupid markup. A recent CVS commit to Omni got me thinking. Now that the compatibility of the ROM and the disc image are both no longer a concern, is it time, as well as deleting the “RISC OS ROM Date” column from the compatibility list, to delete the RISC OS rows? I mean, there’s a line in there somewhere for “MessageTrans”, of all things. There’s another one for NetTime, and one for “OmniClient”, which may or may not be the same thing as “Omni” (whoever added it didn’t see fit to include a link). I’m strongly tempted to remove everything which can be viewed in ROOL’s repository from the list altogether, as I think we can now presume that everything in there is safe, and they’re just complicating matters. Unless anyone thinks different? BTW, what is happening with ABC at the moment anyway? Has anyone touched the source? |

Those of us not using PCs have probably got into the habit of ^A, ^C at the end of posting. It appears to me that Beast was an attempt to write a functional forum in as few lines of code as possible. And they succeeded. But, then, you could probably do it in any language if you throw away all the user fluff like preview, safe logins, etc etc. |

And, yes, I’d agree that removing ROOL stuff is logical. I mean… MessageTrans? Seriously? Do we have sources for ABC? I thought that was third-party? |
