Nat Pi boot question

The NutPi does not include RISC OS – it is just a collection of applications. This is because RISC OS doesn’t need you to keep the boot SD card in once it’s booted. Unlike other operating systems, RISC OS doesn’t need to thrash the boot drive all the time… So, what you do is this:
The end result will be you’ll have the contents of the NutPi card copied onto the boot card so you can pick and choose which software to install (with a lot less swapping of cards than if you installed each one from the NutPi card individually). |

I ask me “Works this on my system?”. |

Is it an SD card or a micro SD card plus adaptor? (I already have readers for micro). Have you considered making the bundle avaialable via the store? |

Out of curiosity, could the bundle be offered via the PlingStore or some other downloadable form? (I don’t see anything in there that’s compelling enough to buy, though.) It’s 2012, doesn’t seem to make sense to ship SD cards around if you don’t have to, especially given that there is a (small, but existent) international audience. |

I do. (Waiting until after pay day, but I’d definitely prefer a choice to buy via the !store.) |

Actually, hmm, there is some interesting stuff in there. Only a couple things, but that’s enough to make it cheaper than buying programs individually. Of course, I wonder how PlingStore will handle international transactions, if at all… |

PayPal seems to work just fine for most people. Card payment for the others and hardcore RISC OS users can send cash via Royal Mail :) |

As for having a downloadable version – there’s a complicated reason why this isn’t possible, due to the way we are ensuring everyone has an unique serial number that they can quote if they need support from any of the vendors of the bundled software. So right now, you have to buy the NutPi from ROOL and get it as an SD card. You will then get an application called !NutPiSerial on the card which you run to tell you your unique serial number. If you haven’t got a serial number when you contact us or any of the other vendors, or it’s not a valid serial number for a ROOL-supplied SD card, then you won’t get any support (unless of course your card is faulty!). :) |
