New RISC OS Pi user

Just basically here to say hi! I’m a long time Raspberry Pi user and a ‘very long time ago’ Acorn user. I had some spare time a couple of weeks back and finally got arounnd to installing RISC OS Pi edition. Although I’ve watched videos and seen many screenshots in the past it’s the first time I’ve actually used RISC OS. After a little bit of a learning curve (actually, still very much learning!) I’m up and running on both a Pi Zero and a Pi 3 with internet access (worked ‘out the box’). I’ve also set up a fixed IP address and set up VNC so I can remote on. It’s been really refreshing using the operating system so far, it’s so fast and responsive even on the Pi Zero. I’ve even dug out a couple of my old BBC Basic image files of games I wrote nearly 30 years ago and was impressed how they worked without modification. I know RISC OS has always been around – I guess a lot of us were sidetracked away from Acorn towards Windows, Macs and even Linux. |

Welcome Tony! You might want to check out if you have a local user group where you can meet up with fellow users who will be able to help you along. See – https://www.riscository.com/calendar/ |

Thanks Bryan. I’ll definitely try to get along to the London show later in the year. |
