Dev builds are back

Looks like progress on the matter of “Dev” products build from gitlab
Something made me look at the downloads page, and there they are, today’s Beta downloads! A local build of the Titanium Dev ROM from the Source code tarball worked perfectly. This does derive from git as seen by the directory structure. (A slight trifle, Thanks all round. |

Yup, like I said in the GitLab version history thread it came up on “new builds for bonus binaries, HardDisc4 and System in the usual places.”
Now that’s one I can’t claim anything for because I was monitoring the pages using a Firefox add-on (why have a dog and bark yourself) |

HardDisc4 has /gitignore files scattered around PlingBoot.Library, RO310.Boot.x and Utilities.Patches. I assume those aren’t required as part of an install? |

!UnTarBZ2.Tools.wrap is looking for This is work in progress but HTH. |

Strangely these are not present in a local DiscDev build from the source code tarball but they are present in the beta HardDisc4 download. |

And one does not have to wait until 10 o’clock either ATM. The Titanium is running today’s ROM, before breakfast. A bit of caution though, this might best be thought of as a double beta, the Dev builds are beta and the build system is ‘work in progress’. That said it is, in the main, looking rather good here. |

I mentioned that 10am thing the other day, which I believe was set to trigger then to give the wheezy old server time to complete the builds. With the newer oil fired boiler installed last August things finish much earlier so ROOL have been able to pull in the transfer time. |

Pity the revisions page is still stuck, though. I have a little program wot I wrote which checks the downloads page (RPi) throughout the morning at intervals and notifies me if there’s a new one. It’s been a long wait! This is the first time I’ve been able to get log-in to stick – and I’m not quite sure exactly how I did it either; it did involve deleting ROOpen cookies in Netsurf, but I’m not sure at exactly what point I did this to make it work. Will experiment! Edit: and it stuck through a page reload as well! |

The autobuilder has now been fixed to strip out the ‘/gitignore’ files, so the next time a nightly build gets done they’ll be gone. Until a replacement for the CVS Revisions page is done, the best way to see recent changes is to look at https://gitlab.riscosopen.org/groups/RiscOS/-/activity |

Netsurf doesn’t appear to be able to display this page. |

The good news is that the HardDisc4 is now git-less, the scattered The not quite so good news is that today’s, 2019-06-09, Dev ROMs have not built. ARM Linker: (Error) Undefined symbol(s). ARM Linker: draw_create_diag, referred to from aof.Paint. ARM Linker: Errors in link, no output generated. |

That’s a shame. Actually it turns out to be a lot less useful than I hoped anyway as it only shows changes to things directly under ‘RiscOS’, not the whole tree underneath it. Hopefully something better will be along soon. |

Looks like it’s been resolved. |

I see that the list on the home page is now showing each commit only once instead of twice. Baby steps, but at least we can see a little more :) |
