Unfortunately a4com has announced they will no longer sell and support RISC OS hard- and software. To my knowledge they were the last German RISC OS vendor. Does anyone know if someone will take over from them? |

I think Detlef reached retirement age, and has left A4com. Without Detlef, perhaps they don’t have the expertise to continue? It’d be worth asking to see if Detlef is continuing to do anything “outside of work”. Alternatively, we’d be happy to support anyone in Germany who is wishing to take over such a role in any way we can. |

Detlef’s retirement announcement didn’t suggest he’d be doing any more RISC OS work:-( We regularly ship products to Germany and can continue to do so. Unfortunately none of us speak German but given how good most continental RISC OS users are with English we’ve not yet found that a problem so far. |

Detlef is now indeed in his well-deserved retirement and consequently a4com stopped doing any RISC OS stuff. AFAIK, nobody is taking over and nobody will take over. After all, it was more a labour of love than anything which made business sense. |

Happy retirement, Detlef. <waves from long ago> |

Not sure if this is related, but there’s a question come up elsewhere about free software that was once hosted on riscos.de and a4com.de. Does anyone know if this has found a new home, or whether it’s gone for good? ETA… I’ve got a download link of http://www.a4com.de/riscos/down.htm — which doesn’t seem to exist any more. |

Thanks for the pointer – I never seem to remember the Wayback Machine. Unfortunately, while some of the links do work, it seems that some downloads slipped through the net. Some of the TextEffX files aren’t there, for example. :-( |

Better you look here. |

Thanks! I’ll pass the link on. |

I believe TextEffX is on !Store for preservation purposes – I certainly salvaged the files so that it could live on. Did I not complete the work? |

I’ll admit that I didn’t think to look, but having done so, I can’t see it there. |

OK, your post reminded me what happened – I had half of what I needed, but the broken links flummoxed the rest. I have now pieced it all back together, so unless anyone wildly objects, it can go on !Store as freeware download as per its readme. |
