I feel sure that the world doesn’t need yet another video codec, especially a proprietary one with poor video quality. |

If that’s what you consider a title… Jeez, you’re a tenth of the way to an anime episode there…
Yup, that’s the one.
Oh, the world is always looking out for new codecs.
That’s true, the quality wasn’t great. However given our lack of GPU assisted codecs, we need to rely upon software decoding. My Pi2 (a useful baseline as not everybody is going to have a Ti or iMX6) does “okay” with simple 360p video in a modern format. But scale that up to fit the monitor, it’ll look rubbish. |

The intro sequences are a maximum of three minutes (otherwise I would have to pay much more to get them rendered). End credits are between 3 and 4 minutes (based on song length). As a whole they aren’t that important – they only appear once, so that side of things can always be changed. |

Using Replay as a framework does not imply to use an obscure codec. |

Which would be a more weighty point if there were a long list of applications that load and display Replay files without intimate knowledge of the format. Is there? |

No, but getting it to run really quickly in software only across a useful range of machines might. The codec is what I meant. The container isn’t really that big a deal so long as something can demux it…
Encoder or decoder? |

So, it looks like it’s something I’ll have to look into. |

I don’t know. |
