Changing Resolution of RasPi-Builtin Monitor
|
I have been trying (and failing)to change the screen resolution using Configure, but can not find any way to do it which keeps the Monitor Type set as RasPi-Builtin. I can do a temporary change using the monitor icon on the Icon Bar but that is lost with a re-boot. What am I missing, please? |

I’d just change the monitor type to Generic, and then pick the display mode you want (using Configure). |

Have you updated the installation? The original published release (RC5 I think) had a few issues, not saving the screen resolution was one. I got around it by write protecting a file, but I have used packman to update since, and the other problems have gone. (I’ve not unprotected the file yet.) |

Tried that, but I then get a much bigger selection of less useful resolutions. |

Exactly what display is this? |

The display is a 16" LED Backlit LCD TV from Currys. It has an HDMI input which is connected to the Pi HDMI out. The native resolution of the TV is 720p – so it looks blurry at the 1080 resulution. I have now worked out to get it to start up at 720p – by adding a Wimpmode statement in the PresDesk Configure Monitor file: |

F76? Weird. Anyway, there is a 1280×720 mode in the Generic MDF. That one runs at either 50 or 60 Hz, which I’d say is a better choice than 76 Hz. (Less likely to experience tearing.) |
