DAQ app

I have been toying around with a Pi zero w with Risc os for a few months.
I haven’t touched entering BASIC since a Commodore VIC 20.
The thing I like about Risc OS, is the boot times and the amount of options it has. Also that with a Pi it has native HDMI display support.
I also tried working with a STM32F103 and STM32f407 with MINOS, ArmMite. While the boot time is great, the display options are few. I had them work displaying to Putty and a PC.
I was able to get a usb ADC to work under Raspian and Android. For what I finally want to do with it, it takes too long to boot.
I had been able to view the values coming in to the Pi under the terminal. After determining the USB address for the ADC board.
Is there a terminal or Putty like app for Risc OS to view the data?
Eventually I would like to put together an instrument panel that can be used on pre ODBII cars that uses analog inputs for gauges. 2 counters. 1 for tach 1 for speedo. Then other gpio pins for on/off inputs for indicators.
At this time I’m just working on displaying raw values in Risc OS. But if there is already a graphical app
that would work that would be great. Most likely I would have to run 3 apps. 1 for ADC values. 1 for the counters and 1 for the on/off indicators.

Is there a terminal or Putty like app for Risc OS to view the data?

I might be able to toy with this over the weekend.
I’m used to Putty, but on PC. I’ll have to try to get it to work with Risc.
Most of I have read about Connector, had to do with Telnet as a SSH client.
Ahh Telnet. Man this 9600 baud modem is fast.
I have forgotten more than I will ever learn.

David – the Putty link seemed to be for the Windows version from what I could see. Did I miss something?

I tried using !connector and got an error that serial block drivers not seen.
However I uploaded SerialUsb.zip. In it it had !SerialTerminal. Which worked just like Putty.
I didn’t have to enter any specs. It just started automatically showing data.
I’m using one of those cheap china ADCs that has a STM32F103c that has a CH340 USB/serial chip.
At the moment I have it loaded on a Pi3+, so I could download the files onto the SD card through Risc OS.
I had it up on the Zero using Raspian.
Before I dedicate this to a Zero, I’m on the lookout to someway send the data from !SerialTerminal to a graphical app. I see I’ll have to start digging around in making a Wimp app or modifying one that already exist.
I have no exp. in app building.
After which I’ll start toying with the gpio end of it. At this point I am bringing in data to Risc.

No. There was a port, but it’s not available any more.
I have it somewhere, but Connector is really better.

I was able to get this to work on the zero.
The normal OS download doesn’t work right with the zero. I had another a little earlier version that worked with the zero. I had to arrange things on that version, but it works(edit !BOOT, config.txt)
I am no good at programming. I did find an old program that uses serial/usb signals to display some of the stuff that I may need. The latest version for RiscOS was around 2009. Called !OWW (one wire weather). It looks like it was set up by National Instruments as an educational program. As a promotion to sell their higher priced stuff. There are later versions, but only for MS and MAC. It seems to have a configuration editor to define different inputs. It does use a few temp and pressure inputs(variable resistor) and a Tach/RPM for wind speed.
I’ll have to load it onto one of the Pis and see if I can get it to take inputs from the ADC. It seems to use the same dependencies as !SerialTerminal. If I make that work, I’ll start trying to edit it in some kind of way. (change sprites etc.)
PS I tried the BD download, but it seemed buggy on the Pi3 and kept telling me I’m using an older Iyonix board with the zero.
I have been doing a lot of hunting. I’m finding that there used to be more support for RiscOS stuff years ago but has been dropped.
