Voice to Substitute the WaveSynth-Beep

After installing a voice in PreDesk and set it as the new default it doesn’t sound on re-boot. I guess this is to do with the OS supplied voices being in ROM and being available at boot-up time whereas a voice in PreDesk requires the OS to be up and running before sounding. Workaround? |

Without rolling your own ROM build I very much doubt it as I’m pretty sure the beep occurs before the boot drive is accessed. |

The beep is a VDU 7 inserted into the boot text “RISC OS blah blah” stuff. Workaround? Possible but tedious. Do you find WaveSynth to be too quiet? I’ve set my Pi to use StringLib-Hard instead. A much more pleasing clang. |
