Hi. I see that at autobuilder repository there is gimp folder inside graphics. Do someone already working on porting gimp? Is there any chance that it would be finished? Who is working on this? |

I’m not aware of anyone working on it, but it is possible that when the “Unix Porting Project” was active (up until about 2007) it may have been something they were looking into. Some of the auto-builder guys might know more, but I think it is safe to assume that there isn’t a current project, unless someone pops up to disagree! |

It could be easier to port Krita… |

Krita and GIMP are for completely different things – Krita is for creation, GIMP is for editing/manipulation. Of course you can also manipulate in Krita and create in GIMP, but it is not their strength. But RISC OS lacks powerful software for both things, so ports would be very welcomed, unfortunately drawing and painting often needs a good UI and OS integration, so GTK/Qt based software needs a lot of work to feel “native” under RISC OS. Apart from the small problem that there is no GTK port available, and Krita might also need unported KDE stuff (although there is a Windows version, so this might be not a showstopper). |
