Allow text to be dragged from writable icons to icon bar icons I know this is going to be a stupid question but… to what purpose? |

Text? Because someone will try, and it helps if it doesn’t crash! |

Not sure I understand the relevance to that thread given that one’s dragging a file name, say, but for consistency that doesn’t hurt. Just curious (maybe thick!). |

I’m not sure. Maybe I missunderstand something. |

Ah, OK. It’s me being thick then. I’ll put it down to the sudden imposition of summer at an inappropriate time. |

Just curious (maybe thick!).Allow text to be dragged from writable icons to icon bar icons…to what purpose? The linked thread was concerning Paint and Draw, so not directly related, but it turns out the code was all related so once you spot the problem in one place it’s best to apply it everywhere for consistency. Being able to drag text from a writable icon to (for example) Edit is certainly useful – it creates a new document with the text pasted in and, as with Paint and Draw in the other thread, is naturally what you would expect to happen. One of our USP’s is how consistent RISC OS is, which is why I was delighted that dragging a selection to the Filer creates a text (or Sprite or Draw) file containing the selection. I get annoyed with various online bank websites where some of them jump the caret between fields when you’ve typed enough digits but others don’t – having to remember these different rules depending on where I am negates any benefit the designer thought I’d get by jumping between boxes. And having length limited boxes stops me pasting the sort code in directly, it now becomes 3×2 paste operations. |

As a new user of Raspbian abd familiar with macOS I can readily agree. However, this time it was the case that there had been a landfall blocking the road between my ears. Raik brought the bulldozer. |
