Obtaining DDE 29

Hi! I managed to miss the DDE link that was sent out on 16th Nov (2 days link duration – expired); due to the covid situation I haven’t got round to updating. However, I am keen to update to DDE29. I have got the updates to DDE29a and DDE29b – these were received as email attachments, but can’t get the DDE 29. I am hoping to migrate to my RPi4 shortly, but can’t build the EtherGENET module because DDE28 won’t work, but have made a card that can boot on my 3B+ and 4 using the beta ROM. Is there any way that a link could be sent (to my registered email) to a way to get the DDE29 main installer? I would be grateful for help with this! Thank you! Matthew |

Thank you – got a contact from the ROOL team and have a link, just checking I downloaded it properly, but all seems good! :) |

Same issue here.. Just become aware of DDE29, and no evidence of missed email. |

There have been several recent updates to the DDE this year. The most recent email from ROOL had the following subject header: ‘DDE29b update to DDE29c’ on 4 June 2020. Not sure if that helps you track it down, or whether you were some how missed off the ROOL email list. |

Unfortunately, many rool missives get classified as spam, and have a tendency to disappear down black holes. If I miss them by more tha just a few days they’re gone forever. |

You don’t need the email—you can enter your developer number when you order on the website and get the discounted price. |

Indeed, except (from ROOL site): “We’ve emailed out copies of DDE29 to all developers now lassoed by the extended cycle, anyone wishing to bring their copy back up to date can do so for half normal price by simply quoting their developer number (which starts ‘DEV07’).” This email I should have, but didn’t, receive.. hence to fuss. I still have nothing beyound dde28d |

It’s not their fault if your mail system is overzealously marking valid messages as spam. Consider whitelisting “ctools@” followed by the name of this domain… |

I emailed ROOL a while ago about getting hold of the ShareFS source (after being asked to on here) and have heard nothing in response… I do wonder if email receiving is working on their end…! |

I won’t mention how long I’ve been after the sources to ABC… ;-) |

This email I should have, but didn’t, receive.. hence to fuss. I still have nothing beyound dde28d The e-mails you are missing are DDE29a 23-Feb-2020 (24Mbytes) DDE29a to DDE29b 12-Apr-2020 (605kbytes) and DDE29b to 29c 6-Jun-2020 (2.4Mbytes). The links only stay active for a few days. Dates are approximate as these are the dates I downloaded the zip. |

Ah. I think the issue here is that you didn’t explicitly give permission, so your contact details would have been deleted.
Probably by sending an email? The thing is, unlike American mrgacorps that basically ignore GDPR (with a nice “Accept all” button and little else), ROOL is bothering to ask you, and follow what the recommendations are, including not assuming opt-in in the absence of permission. |

As far as I remember Rick has had no reply from ROOL about “him” updating the BBC Basic compiler – seems like years! |

I’m just going to leave this quote here from my 2020 Southwest Show report: “Apparently, the latest developer tools – DDE29 (Desktop Development Environment 29) – was released back in October, which I must have blinked and missed at the time.” |
