W.I.P: NYT UI (Modern RISC OS UI)

Evening all, (At least for UK users :P) Decided to create a separate thread for this mini-project as it has outgrown my ‘Newbie Questions’ post; hope that’s alright! Having fun learning RISC OS for the first time but as it was a bit before my time (Albeit my first OS was Windows 95…), the UI icon set was a little too dated for my personal tastes so I’ve set upon creating a modern theme called NYT UI! Here’s an early demo shot: NYT UI SCREENSHOT Let me know what you guys think? Not saying I’m anything special in the art department but I’m satisfied with the results so far and of course am open to any opinions as to improvements! Started with the most obvious icons such as those on the icon bar itself and a the basic most used directory/text file types etc as seen in the screenshot. Next up I want to fix the window scroll bug and look to changing the font to a more slimline modern aesthetic. That’s all for now, hope you like it! Would anyone be interested in a release as it gets more polished? Can’t promise I can overhall the entire system but certainly the 16m color most used sprites should be doable. Regards, Nyt. |

Hi yes I would be very interested in seeing this developed, I do totally agree with you and would defiantly encourage you to carry on with your idea. All the best! Tom – youtube.com/wifisheep |

Hey Wifisheep! Thanks glad you like it! Using RISCOS DIRECT behind the scenes so thanks for your work on that! Updated a few bits since that screenshot so will post another when I get a chance! Nyt ;) |

Hi Nyt, Did you know that the desktop font is already configurable? If you go into the congiguration window by double clicking on !Boot, it is the Themes setting. Looking forward to seeing more of you work. |

Thanks! Yeah looking for a more modern slimline font like the Windows 10 one (but that’s copyrighted hah) so will keep looking! Hoping to post a small update shot soon! Nyt. |
