ChatCube

I’ve been trying the ChatCube app recently. Other than a few rough edges, it seems to work very well. We now have a working Telegram client on RISC OS, in addition to the developers’ own protocol. Anyone else tried it? |

I think ChatCube is brilliant. Looks very modern and is a very useful application that I hope will gain traction with the wider community. As you say, it still has a few bug here and there, but it’s a a steady state of improvement. For anyone interested in downloading this new messaging App – it’s available >>> https://riscoscloverleaf.com/downloads/ |

Yup and I agree about a few rough edges (mostly Style Guide stuff) but I really like it. I haven’t tried the non-Telegram protocol though, so if anyone wants to test it with me, feel free to look me up. |

I “use” both protocol (Telegram more). Titanium, Pi-Top, RPCEmu… is working well. Great work. |

I’m connected all the time and find it very useful (even if I won’t be connected for one week or two because of some work on the shop floor). I hope that webinar functions will come later. Audio would be fantastic too. |

Telegram just fails to authorise, i get the code on another device and enter it, it doesn’t error out but requests the code again which then fails. It is also telling me that i need to update when i don’t, odd bugs. |

Hmm, Telegram. Just looked at that on Android as support for something I use has moved to Telegram. Not really liking the walled garden aspect (there doesn’t appear to be a way to read a public discussion in a browser, it just gives me pointers to software to download). Had a look at the Android app. Oh my god, the permissions. No way in hell I’m letting an app I don’t know modify my contacts 1, directly make phone calls, read the call log… and a bunch more but I gave up before reading them all. It might all be benign, but then, so was Google once upon a time. I’ll do without, thanks. 1 Stuff like this is why: https://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/07/04/facebook_contacts/ |

I had this too, but then I quit and reloaded and Telegram was there! |

Yes, I also installed it and like it very much although haven’t used it a lot, yet. But I think I will do because I use Telegram anyway and sometimes need to send images (did not test whether this currently works) generated in ArtWorks so the RISC OS client might be very helpful for that. |

Deleted, a user really should be able to delete a post you know ;) |

I have ChatCube V1.26, but haven’t managed to get Telegram working. Initially, I saw my Telegram groups appear in the main window together with all the ChatCube RISC OS folk users, but now I have trouble logging in. |
