Have uplad a version with a basicly ytsearch support.
The YTSearch needed stuff must be installed and seen by the filer. No error handling!

Open the search window with a select click to the iconbar icon…

After seach a TextWindow should be open. Select the youtube URL —→ SAVE (selection only) —> drag the saveicon directly to the YTPlay iconbar icon…
Have only try with Edit as actic Editor.

I can confirm that your updated version works here on my ARMX6.

With search I had to make sure that Python3 was seen along wioth running TaskManager.

I also used StrongEd as the editor and as you say just dragging the selection and dropping it on YTPlay works.

Ok just noticed one little issue in that when the search results come up a second Task Obey window is obscured and it has the following details in it:

Thats right anytimes ytsearch/py gives an errormessage in a TaskWindow with “Unicode error”. Not sure what the reason is, maybe Chris has an idea. Have not found time to look at.
My development version put the list to a window and a click to a list entry will start the player handling. Nothing to select and save …
Is working for me with the “first search”. Have to insert any error handling, delete for the old list after a new search… I think this will be the next release also in !Store ;-)
Maybe I change ytsearch/py for easier output handling but I’m not sure if this fixed the error.

There’s a line in the Python27 !Boot file that is not needed but causes that problem with Python3.

Remove this line from !Python27.!Boot,

set UnixEnv$PYTHONIOENCODING ascii

Also remove the same line from !YTPlay.!Run.

Then type in a TaskWindow or reboot,

unset UnixEnv$PYTHONIOENCODING

Thanks that has sorted the issue.

Is there a limitation of results in YTSearch?
If I set 10, I get max. 10.
But if I set 30, I get max. 20 (‘Beatles’ should be find more ;-)).
If I take a look to the YTSearch command line, 30 will be correct set but looks like 20 is the max. result number.

There’s an ‘Offset’ parameter that returns the next set of results. 2 fetches the next 20 and so on.

The main changes:
- The searchlist will no longer displayed in a TaskWindow. You get a list in the SearchWindow.
- Add the offset parameter… called “List”. Do the same like Chris “offset”… 1 = 0 – 20; 2 = 21 -40;…
- No selection needed. Click to the list entry should start the “play process”.
First “bug”: If the URL from listfile is in progress, the iconbaricon will not be changed. I hope is back in the final release 2.

The Python- and Playerstuff must be installed and seen by the filer (I use “Look at” in Configure/Boot). I not check at this time.
A lot of other “small things” are to do before the final release will be in !Store but need some feedback. So I hope … ;-)

Thanks for putting a search window in.

I take it that the development plan is to add a highlight to a selected resulted so when you go to select it it highlights and you know that is your selected item.

Would a confirm window be an idea to so something like “Selection being fetched/downloaded please wait” as someone new may not know that it can take a time for a video to appear.

If you double click a selection you get a “File already open at line 505” message so a positive feedback that something is happening would stop the temptation to click away multiple times.

… second click to list after it is possible is working but but if you close the player via “messagebox” any information in ListWindow are not displayed. If you close the player outside it works… :-(

Thanks for another update.

I noticed that when I selected a entry to play the the text showing Search and List/Play chnaged to look like it had been redrawn with another closly on top to give a very distorted bold type effect. Closing the window and trying again restored the ext look.

On selecting a entry to play the text changes to notify me that: Please wait! Try to play.. perhaps that should be Trying to play?

Anyway minor things so thanks for some very welcome improvements.

Not sure with the redraw. On PiTop any times I have the BatteryManager icon in the middle of the window… one of the small things :-)

If you have better words, please tell me. I know my English is not good. I never really learn it at school. In East Germany English was on the learning list but in the school(s) I “visit” we had no really teacher only “selfmade”. Russian more… Long time ago ;-) I’m also a bit legastenic… Who need writen words as mechanical engeneer (design) or welding one. We speak in drawings ;-)
So feel free. I will change the messages. May be v3 has a message file ;-)
