Isn’t there something weird about the Pi’s MAC address? |

It looks like the ‘old’ machines can see each other. |

RISC OS is straight IPv4 all the way… |

@ Rick: their Hardware address isn’t. On both Pi’s, Share (Menu over :0) is greyed out… |

On RISC OS SD cards are treated the same as good old floppy discs. If you wish to share an SD card you have to use the command line, or put the command in an obey file, placed in eg Choices:Boot.Tasks. The share command takes the form *share dir-to-share share-name eg *share $.Public MyShare *h. share Edit: due to bl**dy textile and <> symbols. |

Do you use different static IPs? You can try to use one of your Computer as a router. Use the “Act as an IP router” option in Internet configuration/Routing. |

@ Chris: you hit the nail on the head, thank you. Three machines are connected via a switch, the fourth via a Vonets. And I wondered what the empty folder Public was for, now I know. Meanwhile the Pi’s are chatting happily. @ Raik: I have a very simple network, all machines are shared and now the Pi’s are in, it’s good enough for me. Thank you for your suggestions. @ All: problem solved, thanks for your help. |

You can, of course, share any directory, or indeed the whole drive. I just used the dir ‘Public’ as an example. In the mists of time, Public was there just for that purpose, when in a large network environment, e.g. a school. If you do wish to share the whole drive, which most would in a private environment, just use $ as the pathname to share. |
