Iyonix and bits For Sale

It’s time to make room for some new RISC OS stuff, so I’m saying goodbye to my Developer Iyonix and its contents.
There’s also some printers and a couple of useless PlusNet routers on there which I insisted Louie put up on ebay, but I’ll probably end up taking to the tip. |

You do know PlusNet will take back their old routers for recyling/proper disposal. |

“Yorkshire” OK, yes, I know – BT sub-division etc. etc. |

I would be interested in the IYONIX podule backplane, if you would be willing to ship to Germany. |

I don’t see why not, the Royal Mail has several different options for loosing the item unterwegs. |

Routers? We used to dream of routers.. |

I’m glad to say all the RISC OS stuff sold. The PowerTEC SCSI 3 is UPSing its way off to someone, and I’m very pleased to say the Iyonix, Pinnacle digitiser, 24i16 digitiser, podule backplane and Irlam 24i16 was bought by the same person. It’s a releif as I could only find one podule blanking plate, and otherwise there would be holes in the back where he other podule and PCI card were. The buyer is a RISC OS developer living about half an hour away, and has just collected it in person, avoiding the courier having to throw it over his back gate. |

I’m fortunate – they can’t get past the shrubbery to reach the gate, so wedging it between the recycle bin and the porch seems to be the favoured option.1 I’m working at home and can hear stuff at the front door very easily, yet the cheap couriers always manage to “deliver” and get “a signature” (from the porch or bin presumably) without me detecting their presence. 2 Although placing things in a nice exposed rainy spot instead does seem to be top of the list if it isn’t wrapped in anything waterproof. |

Nothing beats collecting stuff yourself, I am very happy that the whole collection has found a good home, even if that means I am still looking for the IYONIX podule backplane :-) |

I could help here Steffen. |

Sorry you missed out Steffen. The backplane isn’t that complex, just an edge connector to two IEC sockets, with pretty low speed signalling (these days), so I’m sure it could be cloned. |

I watch them on the security camera – mostly they photograph the package sitting wherever they’ve put it down. Then they ring the bell and run away.
I’ve got a redundant Iyonix Panther here. Does that contain what you need, and is it of interest? |

Well, CJE has an Iyonix backplane in stock here |

Even CJE doesn’t have one of those in stock! A RiscPC 2slot backplane almost fits though, it’s just a couple of mm too tall for the case :( |

The backplane is only available for the classic Iyonix, as the case has the correct cut out for the podules. It plugs in to the edge connector running across the board near the front edge. A Risc PC backplane wont work, as that plugs in to another IEC socket on the motherboard. |

Another important point is that Castle stopped fitting the backplane connector on the motherboard towards the end of Iyonix production, It is through hole so can be soldered in. |
