3D Printed Risc PC Power button

Somehow, in the past (I think related to a failed power supply) I managed to break the front off the power button on my Risc PC. Needless to say for a long time I just did without, but with a lot of time on my hands for some reason, and access to a 3D printer, I have created this: A 3D Printed Risc PC Power button I am also happy to share the STL file, should anyone want to print one for themselves. I’d reccommend a slow print, thin nozzle (0.3mm or less) and print it “upside down” so you need less support material to hold up the shaft. |

Excellent work! Personally i would lose the power symbol for a nicer finish. |

I wonder if ROOL might consider having a repository for such “supplementary” files! Seems like the sort-of-thing that should be recorded centrally! |

Great work, but had you not thought of glue? |

That would be way too easy :)
Well I’m happy for this to be included in such a repository if people would like. I have also got a preliminary design for a Risc PC Foot, but I think that needs more work before I print it (and I need to find an appropriate rubber bumper for the bottom) |

How about change the power symbol for an acorn? |

The bond is not as strong as the original, so it will break again, but sooner. |

This isn’t entirely complete, since I’ve not yet found a nice rubber bumper to go on the bottom – with no modifications to the design it needs to be 3.6mm tall. It’s pretty easy to make an indent to have a foot closer to the original size (the original foot is 7.4mm tall!) but I need to look at what sizes I can get first. Edit: It seems that the correct rubber foot is still available on RS (236-537) so I’ve modified this design to accept that |

FreeCAD as well! It has an odd learning curve, and slightly lacking official documentation which seems to assume you know how to use it before you do, but it does have a good feature set. I am using Cura for my slicer, though, since I use an Ultimaker 2+ printer (although I do now have OctoPrint on a Raspberry Pi controlling it) |

I try any 3D CAD Tools privat and at work but for me FreeCAD was the first I used with a good feeling. |
