*COUGH* "package managers enable users to autonomously discover software which meets their needs, instead of having to read several obscure forums hoping for announcements and/or advice" *COUGH* |

It’s sorting it by ASCII code which is why the sort order is a bit funny. The Packaging back end gives them in this order, but I’ll add it to my list to investigate if I can fix it in PackMan in a future release.
Well nothings perfect! He would have found it if the sort order was a little more sensible or he had scrolled a little further. As he was after textseek in particular he could have used the search button to look for it or dropped down one of the filters to narrow the search. I’m not sure this is an obscure forum as he got his answer in the place he put the question – no searching involved. If you are looking for a particular piece of software you don’t know the name of searching the package list or scrolling through the list of packages seems a pretty simple way to search to me. |

Yes and no. The FAQ page needs two things: |

Actually, it’s a bit of both… If the question is more to do with applications than the operating system, I tend to ask on the pi forum. I wasn’t sure with this question, as although technically grep is an application, it’s such a fundamental part to programming that I thought I’d try here first as it just seemed logical. And even as a newcomer I don’t see this forum as obscure! Quirky, certainly, but not obscure :) |
