TaskWindow / TWIN concurrency

I’ve been doing more manual browsing, this time TWIN. Section 2.3 describes, intriguingly, ‘Twin concurrency’ where you can work on your document while a task runs at the same time in a ‘task window’. Further you can ‘unlink’ the task to stop following its output, and then toggle back to ‘task-linked mode’. This sounds familiar… The TWIN source has the concurrency code in a file ‘s.TaskMan’, which is the same name as the single assembler file that builds the TaskWindow module. So it looks like the task window idea was present in TWIN, and the Wimp version was written using the TWIN source as a starting point, but changing the labels ‘TwinsRdch’ and ‘TwinsWrch’ to ‘MyRdchV’ and ‘MyWrchV’ respectively. |

Running ‘tasks’ under Twin on Brazil was a thing before we got out grubby hands on it to start Arthur! |
