MQA

I’ve recently been sent a ‘MQA’ capable USB Audio DAC. This is the Meridian Explorer 2. It works with my ARMX6 and lets me decode and play MQA encoded files as well as normal audio formats. It was sent to me by someone who wanted to aid some investigations on MQA. I’m not a fan of MQA and am concerned that we may end up with finding that audio CDs and files we want may become only available as MQA versions. So I’ve been doing some more investigations to assess the impact. If interested you can find recent reports here

And Ive been using a good USB ADC to capture output from playing MQA files with the above, and analysing the results to assess what this delivers. I’ll add a report on that in due course. But thought it might be useful to ‘heads up’ recent work and what is happening.
