LanMan98 Problem

I have two computers, a PC (Windows 10) and a FOURtress RISC OS 5.29. They are linked via my home network. I have a directory on the desktop of the PC which I share with the FOURtress. The directory is linked via LanMan98 v2.08. This allows me to transfer files between the two systems and is extremely useful. In most cases I can open or delete individual files from the RISC OS side but occasionally there is a file which I cannot open or delete. When that occurs I get an “Access denied” message. There is currently one file in the directory where access is denied. It is an MSWord .doc file. If I take the same file across using an SD card I can open it with TechWriter. Can anyone kindly suggest why the above occurs please? |

Any odd characters in the filename that are not allowed in RISC OS? |

Grahame Changing it to the most inoccuous file name (errrh File.doc) did not stop the “Access denied” messages. Each time it would still open on the PC side. Nevertheless, thanks for taking the time to make a suggestion. |

What do the file permissions look like on the Windows side, compared to one that is OK to open from RISC OS? ETA: Is the same share being used to access the files that work and those that don’t? |

Robert try that filename without the space in it or put an underscore instead of the space. |

I think Robert means it is called File.doc – the errrh was just a comment – or at least, that’s how I read it. |

Chris It was an attempt at humour so forgive me. The weather is very hot up here and we are not used to it and may be affecting me. Grahame Giving everyone access on the Windows side allowed me to access it from the RISC OS side. Thank you very much for solving it. |
