I’m still waiting for my Pandora to arrive. I think there’s about 50 places between me and the front of the upgrade queue, so I’d guess I’ve got another 2-3 weeks of waiting left.

Excellent! Using Linux though, I expect, or you put the WiFi driver together very quickly!

Although I will be running RISC OS on it, I’m not really planning on using the RISC OS desktop much. Nowadays the main thing I do in the desktop is write code, and since the keyboard has clearly taken 2nd place to the gamepad controls, I think it would be too much of a chore to use it for coding. Instead I’m planning for my main usage to be out of the desktop, using ArcEm to work through all the games I never finished when I was younger. But first there are lots of things to fix up in order to make RISC OS usable, whether people are using the desktop or not!

Congratulations. I do not remember exactly what I have already sent you. By default, the LCD displays wrong colors. I have therefore a calibration tool in tasks. Pandorakeys? I’m not sure which version I have sent you then.
RISC OS is already very usable. Sound still does not work. It work almost all the things that work on the Beagle including surfing via UMTS and Printing with Gutenprint.
I am excited about what the future holds and I hope my old Pandora will also do with the new ROMs.

I have PandoraKey 0.32 (1 Apr 2012).

I’m currently tied up with getting things ready for the Raspberry Pi distro release, but once that’s out the way I’m not going to let anything get in the way of sorting out the Pandora issues.

I keep hearing about this, but I’ve not been able to find it. Is it publically released?

As I have written before. ComCentre is freeware. Jim Nagel has seen ComCentre last year at the GAG meeting. The sources would have to be in CVS. Thomas is a bit annoyed that the USB stack has not changed RISCOS compliant. All its USB driver (FTDI, touchscreen and partially ComCentre) no longer work even though he has strictly applied the rules.
If you want to test, mail me or to Thomas. Condition: Functioning configurations report to Thomas. He and I (if I can) also helps to set up.

I’m currently away from home with just a Pi for two more weeks (with one of Leo’s rom images for non 1080p screens, published on 11 Aug, thanks Leo, it would be at home otherwise).

From what I have seen written, it seems unlikely the current version of ComCentre will work with this, (although I have brought a Huawei E272 with me just in case.)

As yet I’m not softloading my Iyonix, so that ought to work, from the sounds of it.

I’d be pleased to help test. (And I also have a spare E272 if a developer needs one.)

USBSDevSwp should work with all the sticks that work well with usbmodeswitch (Linux).

If the Stick is switched as a modem it should work with ComCentre (AT-command and PPP; Comparable to the modemmanager (Linux)). The device is not automatic configured and setting is a bit fiddly.
Andym tried just at RPi and a Huawei E353. Unfortunately, the ComCentre works not stable with the new ROMs /!Boot on the beagles and Pandora. I am looking at why. In my holiday all things works fine on the Pandora.

I notice you don’t mention the pi. Is it expected or known to work or fail, or completely unknown?

The E272 works with (PC) Debian.

If you reckon there is any chance of useful results, I’m quite happy to find a bit of time to play with it.

“andym” (May I mention the whole name?) is testing on RPi, I wrote ;-). Basically works ComCentre. But he has the same problems as me with the current ROMs /!Boot on the Beagle. It may be that we have not yet found the right settings for his stick. Is anything changed in Internet, Resolver … in the last Months? I’m waiting on my RPi … Send me a Mail if you want to play around ;-)

I’m posting this from my RPi with my SurfStick and ComCentre.
It working stable since 1h but only with a old !Boot. I will check the reason later.

I’ve just checked in some changes, so tomorrows ROM should feature:

• PandoraKey in ROM
• The ROM now supports soft-off, so you don’t need to reboot to turn off the power
• USB host should now always work
• I’ve fixed the SD activity LEDs so they’re only lit when the card is busy

I think there might be a bug in the version of u-boot that my Pandora is using. It looks like it doesn’t load the ROM image properly if it’s over a certain size (about 2.8MB?), resulting in RISC OS crashing very early during ROM initialisation, before RISC OS displays anything on screen. So I’ve got to make sure I’m always using compressed ROM images instead of just running the output of !Builder. It wouldn’t surprise me if this is related to the problem you’ve been seeing where the ROM hangs on startup.

Your changes works very fine on my old Pandora.
Many thanks. Also for the changed display output. So I need no longer the calibration tool.
If you read this comcentre also works.
If I see my brother I can test on the new Pandora.
In the past the most things works better on the old. They are any differences in the hardware.
Please make more of this ;-) … sound, powermanagement, gamepad and nubs

Latest changes, should be in tomorrows ROM:

• USB OTG port should now work
• Battery charging should now work. The only missing feature is that the charging LED won’t come on – that will need some monitoring software to enable it as necessary (e.g. a new version of the A4/Stork BatMgr module).

If you want to see the battery level under RISC OS, you can use my TouchBook battery monitoring program. I haven’t tested it much on the Pandora, but the voltage level reporting should work OK.
