Sharing Directories Between Windows 10 and RISC OS

I have a PC (Windows 10) and a RISC OS machine (OS 5.29) on the same network. On the PC desktop I have two folders which I use to share files. This is achieved via LanMan98 (2.08). These are called “Shared1” and “Shared2”. To access Shared1 on the RISC OS machine I hit Menu above the unnamed LanMan98 icon on the icon bar, select “Show discs” and a window opens with “Shared1” and “Shared2” in that window (hitting Select on the unnamed LanMan98 icon on the icon bar does the same). If I double click “Shared1”, the unnamed LanMan98 icon on the icon bar changes to having the name “Shared1”. When I try to open “Shared2” using the same technique, a window headed “Message from LanMan98 Filer” opens stating “Share name does not exist”. I believe the same attributes have been selected for both “Shared1” and “Shared2” on the PC side. Can someone kindly suggest how I can actually open Shared2 please? |

Now resolved. On the PC side I noticed that Shared1 had a Network Path of PC Name\Shared1 whereas Shared2 had a Network Path of PC Name\Users\Robert\Desktop\Shared2. On the PC I right clicked on Shared2 and a window with a menu opened. I selected “Properties” and a new window appeared with a number of dropdown subjects, the second of which was Sharing. I selected “Sharing” and then hit the light blue box “Advanced Sharing…”. I added “Shared2” in the “Share name: box”. This resolved the problem. I have had this problem for many months. Sorry to have troubled everyone. |

Thanks for that info – good to know! I’ve had a real saga trying to get sharing to work from Win10. In the end I just went the pCloud route because I’m lazy and like instant results… |
