Tabs errors Transient

Fiddling as one does, I loaded Tabs & Treeview to see what help would reveal. Closing down the RPi4, gave the error ‘Internal error: abort on data transfer at &20531E04(code43)’. Isolated it to loading Tabs. Don’t know if it counts as a bug or is just ’don’t fiddle’. |

Always press buttons. Especially the ones with the Do not press signs on! A few related questions if you can try:

Not the best idea when you’re in a major American airport and the inviting big red button is the emergency cutout for the escalators. All of them (it was set up so any button tripped would stop everything). In my defence, I was a toddler, but still… Just as well I was too small to reach the evacuation alarm. ;) |

AFAIAA nothing is using Tabs. I loaded it manually so I could *Help
It was passively loaded.
I didn’t know Tabs existed until the latest ROM ‘Recent changes’ list.
Je ne sais pas. It’s a direct quote from the error box. Forgot to mention the error box is titled ‘Transient’, though I suppose that would be obvious, and that on clearing the error the machine shuts down normally. |

Transient does use Tabs in its choices dialogue. I have never had any trouble with Tabs, either in my own software, or other applications, including Transient. This is on a number of different hardware running RISC OS 5.29 and Tabs 0.12, although I do not have a Pi4. |

Is Transient using Tabs? …and…
So I think what’s happening here is a copy of Tabs (version 0.12 in !Transient.RMStore) gets loaded if another isn’t already loaded or in !System. However, if you manually double click on a copy, that removes the one that’s in currently use and odd things then happen. Could you try adding Tabs 0.13 to your !System (by merging the !System from the nightly HardDisc4) then reboot. That should mean Transient loads that one in preference, and work normally. |

Correct.
Also correct.
Replacing a Toolbox module while there are clients that use it is a bad idea and can result in all kinds of weird errors.
Agreed, unless there happens to be something in Tabs 0.13 that throws a wobbly on a Pi4. |

The above was all written with Tabs 0.13 already added to !System. This Pi4 is running on the nightly HD4 & ROM betas. It would appear that Tabs isn’t being run from !System then. Edit: Correction. Tabs is being run from !System and is working with v0.13 – no error. It seems it is running it twice that caused the issue. Maybe my comment on fiddling was correct. |
