Old Acorn stuff

So I’m clearing out my loft, and there’s an unhealthy amount of ancient computer equipment up there. Some BBC micros, 5.25" disc drives, 2nd processor, etc etc. Plus BBC era manuals and software. I offered it to the National Museum of Computing but they have plenty of these things already. I’m loathe to just throw it all away, some of these things feel like a small piece of history, but in reality it may be that there are more ancient BBCs out there than we know what to do with! I honestly don’t have the time or inclination to list these things on ebay or package them up for posting. I’d be quite happy to shove the whole lot in the van and drop it off somewhere reasonably local (NW England) or have someone collect it. Any ideas, or is anyone interested? Nothing is “for sale”, it’s all free to a good home. Anything I can’t give away will sadly get recycled. I haven’t got a full list yet, I’ll try and do an inventory and see exactly what I’ve got. |

There is likely to be quite a bit of interest over on the stardot forum, Rik. |

You don’t, by any chance, have a manual for EDWORD2 do you? |

Stuart – thanks, I’m not familiar with that forum but I’ll take a look. Rick – Don’t remember ever using EDWORD, but if I find one I’ll certainly let you know. |

Hi, I’m one of the admins of stardot and based in Manchester. I’ve plenty of bits and bobs myself but I’d happily help get it distributed out to the 8bit acorn crowd and ensure it’s s used rather than ebayed for profit. |

Hi Daniel, that sounds like a good plan! Can you email me at rik.grf@gmail.com to arrange something? Thanks. |

I also have various RISCOS era Acorn things, including an A5000, keyboards, ROMs, software and various manuals and paperwork. Same deal, free to a good home, collect it from either Birkenhead or Macclesfield. Ask here or email me for more details. |

Hi Rik, yes, I’m just out and about and will drop you a message when I get somewhere more stable, probably this evening! Cheers, |

Hello Rik, if you still have the A5000, I will be glad to have it for testing my new podule interface I am designing to connect Raspberry pi card to the Archimedes. |

It’s awesome that you’re looking to find a good home for it. You might want to consider reaching out to local schools or computer clubs, they sometimes love getting their hands on retro tech for educational purposes. |
