RISC OS 5.19 and PrintPDF 1.00

Not sure when this broke but using 10th Feb 13 and 31st Mar 13 versions of 5.19 ROM on my Iyonix with 27th Nov 12 Boot causes PrintPDF not to function. Using the 31st Mar 13 build on my Beagleboard with PrintPDF does work. Using 5.18 I can print to PDF and the the PrintPDF dialogue box pops up confirming what you wnat to do to produce a PDF file. If I use either of the two 5.19 Softloads then that dialogue box does not pop up. However the printout/ps file is created in Scrap.ScrapDir.XXXXXXXX01.PrintPDF and manually dragging the file to the PrintPDF icon will produce the dialogue box and allow conversion. PDFMaker from RComp does however work on the latest 5.19, 31st Mar 13. |

Ok, some more information I notice that in Scrap I have two high level directories in ScrapDirs one is XXXXXXXX01 and the other XXXXXXXX0a. When using 5.19 the printout/ps file is created in “01” and no PrintPDF dialogue appears but if I manually move it to the PrintPDF directory in “0a” then it does. So is the softload confusing PrintPDF as to the location of the printout/ps file in !Scrap and why do I get two sets of !Scrap directories which appear to be based on the MAC address of the network interface but slightly different. |

As PrintPDF collects data from the printer driver via Scrap, if the location of Scrap changes it could affect things if one side of the transfer is canonicalising the path and storing the result. This is expected (or, at least, isn’t too surprising). I guess the question is: is Printers or PrintPDF the culprit? Is IDe8116b01 the new Scrap folder, or the old one? That is, is Printers saving printout/ps into the old location, or the new one? |

Steve Thanks for the reply. IDe8116b01 is the one associated with 5.18 and 0a is the one for the softload. When in softload mode printing via PrintPDF using PDF3 as the The file location to use was set to a hardpinned one at for the printout/ps file in ScrapDir.XXXXXXXX01. I noticed your comments about <Wimp$ScrapDir> and changed the Rather than the previous hardpinned one and it now works so thanks for the support. Doug |

I don’t know much about this but from the discussion I also feel that what Steve is saying is correct. |
