Gutenprint - Recent printers support

Hello

I see that the latest version of Gutenprint dates from 2010. Since then, many new printers appeared on the market and the supported printers are no more available for sale.
So, what is the current status of Gutenprint? Can we expect an update in the near future with new printers support?

How can I tell if a new printer is supported with an existing driver?
Is there a list of the recent printers still on sale that can be used with existing gutenprint drivers?
