Reconfig re:MAC address change

I keep my BB -xm using the same physical address to ease connection via the router to my Mac. Because of today’s ROM changes it was seen as a different machine (I expected this, hence why I checked). I managed to sort it out but ended up doing so by bodge. I selected Manual in Interfaces – EtherUSB and entered the preferred IP addy and a netmask of 255,255,255,0. That was enough to reset the address at the router but not access any URLs. Switching to DHCP allowed me access & to lock the IP at the router. I have Host Names configured anyway. So for education rather than need, what else did I need to configure? |

EtherUSB is changed and I not became a connect because the old way to set the MAC adresse not work. I have MAC adresse filtering aktiv on my Router. Maybe this problem has the same reason. |

A gateway. At least these EtherUSB changes are forcing me to learn something. |

Setting a custom MAC should work again with the latest ROM. Also, I changed the way the default MAC is generated – the old code was using a call which wasn’t returning the full machine ID, so the generated MAC wasn’t as unique as it should be. So I’m afraid you’ll have to change your routers settings again Frederick! |

I did. That’s what made me look again at doing a manual config. That’s two things I’ve learnt today. The other was how to hang a door without doing the same to myself. |

… And now with user configured MACs I won’t need to change my router again. |
