A new (old) RISC OS user

Hi everyone. Having lurked here for a few months I feel the time is right to finally post a message here: using NetSurf on RISC OS Pi! I used RISC OS computers as my primary machines from 1993 until 2002 (an A3010, then a RiscPC) and although I persevered with an Iyonix for a few years after that, I gradually migrated to Windows and then OSX. I’m really looking forward to jumping back into RISC OS-land via the Pi. The OS is just as fast and responsive as I remember it and it looks like there is an enthusiastic community here. It seems that RISC OS is attracting new users, which is good to see. I’ve already made one daft rookie error: accidentally deleting !Boot with a slip of the mouse, necessitating a quick reflash of the SD card). Once I’ve remembered which key does what, I hope to eventually get back into doing some RISC OS programming; my BBC BASIC knowledge has gone unused for far too long. :) Anyway, I just wanted to pass on my appreciation to the ROOL team and everyone who has contributed. I look forward to seeing how RISC OS develops in the future. |

Welcome back! Now this complete re-write of the underlying parts of the OS that is needed… ;-) That is a JOKE for the rest of you (yes believe it or not there are some here who get a bit lost when the lowest form of wit is invoked :-o ) |

Welcome back. Don’t worry if you have to ask basic questions. However simple the answer may be, there will be half a dozen others out there thinking ‘Oh that’s how you do that…’. |

Oops! You might want to consider turning on the Confirm Deletes option. Double-click !Boot and then click on Filer to get at the options. |

Thanks chaps. I was already aware of “Confirm Deletes” (saved my bacon more than once in the Iyonix days) but neglected to turn it on when playing with the Pi. Now corrected! Most of my RISC OS files are still archived in a corner of my Mac’s hard disc, so next step is to get them transferred. |
